Oracle

Oracle is a professional RDBMS that offers the storage units on disks, processes, and memory/cache structures needed to efficiently manage users and their access to the database.

System behavior is determined by the settings of more than 300 profile parameters. All of these units have to be permanently monitored and analyzed in order to guarantee safe operation and efficient use of existing resources.

Microsoft SQL Server

The architecture of the Microsoft SQL Server allows for the operation and management of one or more databases with only one server process (Win32 Service). This allows companies to easily separate and manage the data coming from different applications or business divisions with only one SQL Server. The SQL Server centrally manages all client-sessions, queries, and memory buffers.

Various and altogether independent Microsoft SQL Server 2000 instances can be operated on server systems that provide the necessary size and speed. All database objects have to be permanently monitored and analyzed in order to guarantee full availability and performance.

IBM DB2 Universal Database

DB2/UDB is a relational database system that covers most of the latest ANSI-SQL standards and is therefore used by many large business-critical applications. The purpose of DB2 databases is to store and manage terabytes of data, e.g. SAP system data, and to give users convenient and high-speed access to this data. They are essential to the smooth operation of any business-critical application.

theGuard! ApplicationManager allows companies to monitor and analyze DB2 databases from versions 7.2 up to and including 8.1. All DB2 instances that are installed on the local computer are simultaneously monitored. As defined in the CIM model, the DB2 instance (Database Manager DBM) as well as the databases, tablespaces, buffer pools, and the diagnostic log are individually represented as managed objects (MOs) and can therefore be analyzed in detail.

MaxDB

MaxDB (formerly SAP DB) is one of the SAP-certified relational databases for all mySAP applications and R/3. Furthermore, the MaxDB database is an integral part of the mySAP technologies APO (LiveCache) and KM (Knowledge Warehouse, Knowledge Management).

In this context, it can not be replaced by other SAP-certified databases such as Oracle, DB2 or SQL Server.
The data collector for MaxDB/SAP DB allows companies to monitor and analyze MaxDB databases version 7.5 as well as SAP DB databases versions 7.3 and 7.4.
