Düsseldorf/Walldorf, September 18, 2009 – Novell and REALTECH have opened their "SAP on Linux" competence center at REALTECH's headquarters in Walldorf. The competence center gives customers and prospects the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with SUSE Linux and to work with REALTECH's and Novell's experts to identify the specific benefits that this platform can bring to their business. The joint competence center and REALTECH's appointment as a "Preferred Migration Partner for SAP on Linux" are the latest building blocks for REALTECH's and Novell's European partnership.
The technical lab gives customers and prospects a better understanding of the high performance that SAP applications running on Linux deliver and dispels any lingering concerns. It also demonstrates that the smooth operation of these applications is possible in a real-life environment. The main focus of the lab is on high-availability cluster solutions and on failover scenarios and virtualization by means of Xen technology.
The service is specifically tailored to address SAP customers that plan to run their solution on the SUSE Linux Enterprise operating system. The objective of this partnership is to deliver consulting services to European companies that are trying to operate their SAP systems more efficiently and to provide customers with a powerful, reliable, and cost-effective platform.
Currently, more than 700 small and mid-sized SAP customers and more than 1,000 large companies have already embraced SUSE Linux Enterprise. This corresponds to a market share of 75% of companies using SAP on Linux. Furthermore, more than 85% of the SAP LinuxLab are running on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. Novell and SAP are serving more than 1,700 joint customers worldwide.
