REALTECH's theGuard! 6.3 gives companies an integrated solution that covers everything from IT Service Management to Business Process Management

This latest version offers comprehensive IT management from the network to the application level and supports end-to-end business process monitoring

Walldorf, July 8, 2009 – REALTECH AG, a manufacturer of Business Process Management and IT Service Management software, has released theGuard! 6.3, a new package solution that gives its customers a highly integrated product portfolio that allows them to effectively secure their critical business processes. This latest version features enhanced functionalities for theGuard! NetworkManager, theGuard! ApplicationManager, and theGuard! ServiceDesk. Their individual features were combined in a way that creates synergies without affecting the independence of the individual products.

Moreover, REALTECH has added the "Business Process Modeling Interface" to the field of Business Process Management. This gives companies the ability to directly identify the process design defined by the Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) as well as critical performance indicators (BPEL) in their ERP systems and include the monitoring processes provided by theGuard!.

New functionalities were also added to the Business Service Management module to enable customers to monitor their underlying business services. The "BSM Connectors" are the latest addition. These allow for the integration of those proprietary sources into theGuard! that are not based on standard protocols, such as SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) or WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation). It is not necessary to install an agent. The BSM Connectors are available for a variety of operating systems, SQL databases, and application platforms.

This also benefits our existing customers: based on whatever solution they are currently using, it is very easy for them to migrate to a consistent system, to implement the monitoring of their network, system, and application components, and to exactly define and describe their business services and processes.

The "Dependency Walker" supports senior managers and IT administrators in the analysis of business process interruptions. This feature also enables the heads of business departments to identify the effects of an individual interruption on the overlying business processes. At the same time, this provides system and network administrators with an effective root cause analysis tool that allows them to navigate their way from the business process interruption to the technical component that is the source of the problem

The user perspective as a significant measure for a business process is carefully captured and objectively assessed by the end-to-end monitoring. Here, the simulation of user behavior is carried out periodically through the execution of predefined operations. The resulting transaction times are then compared to reference values and evaluated accordingly.

New network management features were added to theGuard! NetworkManager. In addition to MPLS management features, administrators now benefit from the ability to manage virtual environments such as VMWare. The newly added "Specific Dashboards" enhance the concept of product-specific modules that allows administrators to monitor any given network component. These new dashboards provide informative Web interfaces for the management of server platforms.
