Walldorf, August 14, 2008 – REALTECH AG, a manufacturer of system and business process management software and SAP consultancy, has developed the JMX-2-SMC integration module as part of its theGuard! Service Management Center to enable agentless monitoring of Java applications. This enhancement allows comapnies to monitor their business processes even more extensively.
The majority of business application developers rely on J2EE as a standardized and established platform to map a company's business logic. Achieving comprehensive business process management thus hinges on the ability to include Java applications into the system monitoring process. This is done on the basis of so-called MBeans which deliver performance and availability metrics for a Java application. MBeans are freely configurable and can be expanded to include any type of application metric, such as the number of posted requests. These data provide the foundation for the comprehensive monitoring of critical business processes. REALTECH's solution utilizes data that are available through the standardized Java Management Extension (JMX).
The integration module of theGuard! Service Management Center centrally collects the MBean metrics without requiring an additional software agent. These metrics can then be dynamically assigned to the respective business processes and included into the monitoring process using so-called Business Views. The system will automatically detect new metrics. These can be used as normalized data in the Business Process Management of theGuard! Service Management Center.
The Business Process Management module offers powerful system interfaces and allows for the integration of commercial process data. These data are retrieved through the connection with existing ERP systems from SAP or other vendors and then combined with a company's own IT infrastructure status data. Seamless monitoring of IT-supported business processes using REALTECH's theGuard! software solutions is the key for IT organizations to be able to generate reliable and business-related performance indicators that help them optimize their processes.
